Tom Alexander is a highly innovative and collaborative architect and strategist, designing projects and creating new narratives across multiple sectors. He also set up and directs our R+D activities. His experience spans over 20 years with a clear focus on the wellbeing of people and an environmental responsibility.

He has designed market changing master planning and architectural projects across Industrial and Logisitics, Life Sciences, Transportation, Workplace, Education, Health Care, Residential, Retail and Recreational typologies, and often mixed uses of these types that we call Hybrids. He has led the market in exploring and developing the intensification of industrial sites across cities and open landscapes, as well as the blending of industrial buildings with other uses such as living and working environments in London, the UK and internationally.

Tom’s open minded but highly rigorous approach enables fresh thinking and viable ideas to be explored and pursued, often challenging current typologies whilst retaining and enhancing their expected provisions, and always offering new ways of improving the natural and built environment for people and the climate.

He is a regular keynote speaker, panellist and roundtable guest, and a design commentator in the media including for The Economist, Property Week, the NLA and Reuters.

Tom has a keen relationship with architectural education, including support and juror roles at Loughborough University, and as an invited juror previously at the Bartlett UCL.

He is a founder member of the NLA’s Industrial and Logistics Expert Panel, having chaired the panel over the last two years, and was a previous member of the Tall Buildings expert panel. He is also a founder and trustee of the University Design Forum, a charitable knowledge sharing organisation.
